Two new publications now available - Our Backyard War, West Merioneth in World War II by local author Les Darbyshire. It details the effects of World War II on the communities of West Merioneth and the effects of the changes brought about by war on small close-knit communities, which must have resonances for all small communities similarly affected.

Curnow Vosper: His Life and Work by Jolyon Goodman. This is the first biography dedicated to a painter who was a leading artist of his generation. Vosper (1866-1942), the painter of 'Salem' exhibited in London and Paris. This book is lavishly illustrated with over 150 of his paintings, lithographs and drawings including his Welsh paintings and those set in Brittany and from across his whole career. A cartoon of the adventures of a Snowman predates that of Raymond Briggs.

Both books are published by Y Lolfa and available from our book department.
